Will to live

A few laws are particularly prominent and described thoroughly by all writers. These are the laws of Analogy, Cycles, Evolution, Repulsion, Rebirth (reincarnation), Sacrifice and Death, Synthesis, Attraction and Economy. For these laws, I have selected a representative sample of quotes which I believe describe the laws and their effects. I have included all references to laws that are mentioned only once or a few times.

Some of the laws are discussed at length or in entire chapters of the original works. In these cases, the quotes are only a minor part of the text – enough to give a sense of definition and effects of the law. For a thorough study of these laws, I refer to the original works.

Only few quotes are included from the theosophical works. The reason is that these works only rarely refer to laws by a separate name other than for the laws of Evolution, Karma, Rebirth or Reincarnation and Cycles. Other specific laws are explained, and it is then stated: "Such is the law", but without a specific name for the law. The overall complex of divine laws is referred to as "The Great Law", "The Good Law", "Universal Law", "Divine Law", "Cosmic Law", etc.

As the intention of the website is to give an overview of named divine laws, not many quotes from the theosophical works have been included, but I have chosen quotes indicating that in Theosophy, too, laws are a basic theme.
